What's happening?

Well, as seems to be the trend, I keep forgetting to jot posts on the day things happen and now I've got a few things to say. Most good, but one thing is sad... So I will start with that.

Last Monday (January 2nd), Daddy and I went to go pick up a bed from Daddy's friends. While we were gone, Nana and Grandad came and took care of you with Cinder. While they were here, they took a walk around the block with Cinder. When they came back, Cinder slipped. This is the first time it has happened, and by the time we got home, Cinder was visibly limping around the house and eventually had a hard time getting back in the car to go home.

The next day, Daddy got a call from Nana saying Cinder was going to have to be put down. This made Mommy and Daddy sad, especially since you would never remember meeting Cinder. So, just so you know, when we first brought you to meet Cinder at Nana's and Grandad's place, Cinder was afraid of the car seat that you were in and refused to go anywhere close to it. You, however, she was curious about. Most of the times we came to visit with her, Cinder would come by and do a "drive by licking" of you. When Cinder was around for Christmas, you couldn't keep your eyes off of her and wanted to feel her whenever you could... Even on that last visit. It was really sweet. We are sorry you'll never know her, but we will miss her.

On to happier stories, when Nanny and Nonno came for their weekly visit last Friday (January 6), you were sitting in your high chair staring at your buckles. When I unlocked them to take you out, you kept playing with them, staring at them intently. You kept looking at the hole and the buckle input, and when Nonno joked you were trying to do up the buckle yourself, you grabbed the two pieces as you tried putting them together like Mommy does! You definitely are a smart cookie.

This morning (January 11), you crawled over to the barrier that is your car seat. When I looked over again, you pulled yourself up to a standing position all on your own! You are definitely growing way too fast for us to keep up. Mommy has a lot of baby proofing to do!

By the way, you love crawling under things like your jumper and the side table downstairs. Mommy needs to get you some tunnels. You are also starting to notice the side tables in the living room and pulling in the handles (maybe the next you will use to stand?). Oh, and you are starting to bob to music or when you're happy to get food. Did I mention you also like to clap your hands either imitating people or just because. Sometimes you even like to clap your toys together to hear what sounds they make, or pound a metal tin Mommy calls your drum. Maybe you'll be a percussionist like Mommy.

One of the cutest things you've done recently is when Daddy came home from work one day, you dropped what you were doing and, with excitement, crawled over to Daddy as fast as you could! Daddy was so happy!

(You are also starting to crawl to Mommy when I call you. This makes me think you know who Mommy is.)

Phew... That was more than I thought, but you continue to surprise us with how much you're learning in such a short time.
